ESTIMATE AND SUGGESTIONS ON LEGAL
TRANSLATIONS
If
you want to know an exact estimate of how much will cost you a legal
translation, please send a scanned legible copy of your WHOLE document(s)
front and back to this
e-mail. You’ll soon receive a range of
possibilities on how to arrange your set of documents in order to pay the
cheapest price.
No sooner than you accept our estimate and want us to start
with the translation and legalization we kindly advice you to proceed with the payment.
A standard translated page
consists of 25 lines,
(A4 size sheet) or alternatively 1,500 characters
including spaces per single page. The smallest assignment is one page independently of the
actual number of lines or characters.
HOW DO YOU GET THE
EXACT NUMBER OF PAGES OF THE ORIGINAL TO BE TRANSLATED
Simple.
If you use Word as your Writing Programme first highlight
with you mouse the portion of text you want to know its number of characters,
then click Tool on the menu bar above the page and finally click on
Word Count (including spaces) and you get the number of characters you were
looking for. For the whole document you do not need to highlight the text as
you’ll get the overall number of characters by simply clicking on Tool
then
Word Count and then you can read in the small window called
Statistics your Characters (including spaces). By dividing the
figure obtained by the Standard Page (1500) you’ll finally obtain the exact number of pages your
translation.

Note
A Sworn Translation requires a Government Stamp-Levied Tax
(Marca da Bollo) of € 14.62, sometimes an extra € 3.52 on the Statement of
Oath sheet, depending on the local Law Court. The € 14.62 stamp is applied on every fourth numbered page of
the translated document (sometimes this applies to the original document,
too); say your translated document
consists of 11 pages, you are required to apply a Stamp on the
4th, 8th and 12th page (the 12th page being the attached Oath sheet printed
by the Law Court).

Briefly,
the total price for a Sworn Translation consists
of four elements

The actual translation in number
pages

The
legalisation service of the translated document plus Apostille, if any

The set of Government Stamps
-
The sending service of the document(s) as a
registered letter via Post Office
APOSTILLE
If a document to be translated into English and legalized has to be used
abroad, there is an extra process it has to go through: an Apostille rubber
stamp (The Hague Convention Apostille) printed on the back of the last page.

Website. Also, the Court wants to know in
what country/countries the document will be used because The Hague
Comvention of 5th October 1961 was not signed by all countries.
Normally, but not always, we may have the documents legalized on the same
day, but if they also need an Apostille we have to deposit the document(s)
in a different office and collect it after a couple of weekdays.
